RENTON, Wash. — Magic: The Gathering manufacturer Wizards of the Coast announced Saturday that it had filed a second lawsuit against an MTG Salvation administrator over the first lawsuit against the site being leaked on the popular Web site’s message board.
“Wizards of the Coast was dismayed to learn that many users had learned about the lawsuit through ’spoilers’ on MTG Salvation rather than reading about it on our official site,” said Jared Gustafson, director of marketing. “The unauthorized release of information about our lawsuits harms our ‘lawsuit brand’ because the lawsuit is seen and judged prematurely out of context of our entire body of lawsuits,” he said.
Senior Brand Manager Elaine Chase said that the company appreciates the role of fan sites in the Magic: The Gathering community.
“However, we ask that you please not ’spoil’ the details of our lawsuits by reading about them on other Web sites,” Chase said. “It’s really much more fun if you don’t spoil the lawsuit before the prerelease,” she said.
